Great teachers know how to connect with their students about the subject matter, and things that the students are experiencing outside the classroom. Great teachers are inspirational and can be great role models for students that can change the life trajectory of the students through out their entire lifetime. Unfortunately, I was not able to be that guiding force of the students that I tried to teach for the years that I “took a shot” at teaching. As a “student of life” I consider every day a new day to learn things, and I have “never had a boring day in my life.” Teaching was “never boring, but always challenging.” I consider teaching my attempt to serve my country without participating in an imperial war machine, aimed at killing the enemy. But even though I participated in the “battlefield of the classroom,” my experience with the challenges of being a teacher did not destroy my quest for ambition and seeking out my true calling after I graduated from college to face the Five R’s: “Rights, Rites, Roles, and Responsibilities of the Real world.”
